Introduction
Hello everyone! My name is Gabriela Recalde. I’m a new student at LaGuardia and I’m very excited to begin this class! I’m currently on my path to major in nursing, something I’ve always dreamed of since I was little. Reason being, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia at age 2, and since then I’ve been in and out of hospitals. Growing up in a hospital became something most treasured to me. Most people hate the hospital, but I grew in love with them. I was quickly fascinated by the environment and the nurses who took very good care of me during my years of painful chemotherapy. Fast forward, I was finally in remission at age 6 and have been for 13 years now. I’m almost 20 years old and I continue to visit the hospital for my yearly checkups and testing to make sure everything is alright, and it always is!
Some hobbies of mine include cooking, dancing, studying, and working out. I’ve always loved to move my body and keep myself busy with new activities everyday. I want to start reading again, so I’m open to any recommendations! A new hobby I began recently is writing/journaling. I never thought of myself as a writer, but once I started I never looked back. I enjoy writing about almost anything and everything and I find myself to almost never run out of words to say. Therefore, I’m so thrilled to be in this class and can’t wait to begin a new journey!
